There are no Strings on Me explores autonomy, growth, and resistance through a surreal, storybook-inspired figure rooted in transformation. Referencing the symbolic language of fairytale narratives, the character appears mid-evolution—part human, part organic form—suggesting the tension between expectation and self-definition. Branch-like extensions and patterned textures evoke natural growth, reinforcing the idea that identity cannot be controlled or manufactured.
The phrase “Behave” contrasts with the figure’s posture and expression, emphasizing the refusal to conform. While the visual language subtly echoes the mythology of Pinocchio, the narrative shifts away from obedience and morality toward independence and personal agency. The surrounding acrylic splashes create an energetic atmosphere, reinforcing movement, change, and emotional expansion.
“I will pretend to follow
To listen
To become what you want me to be
But I will not behave
I’m too busy growing
With no strings on me.”
