Costumes and Body Art Installations

Emily

Body painting and costume

Created at Northlands in front of a work-in-progress mural, Emily embodies the fusion of painting, performance, and environment. The figure becomes both canvas and collaborator—layered in color, texture, and movement.

Paint, fabric, and gesture merge into a living composition, capturing a moment where art extends beyond the surface and into presence.

Alive

Body painting, costume, and performance · 2023

Created at the Jubilee, Alive transforms models, vehicle, and environment into a unified living artwork. Body-painted figures interact with a graffiti-covered Volkswagen, dissolving the line between object and performer.

Color, movement, and presence merge—everything becomes part of the composition, embodying the energy of a fully immersive, living scene.

Awake

Body painting, costume, and performance · 2019

Putnam Place, NY

Created for the opening of the Awake solo exhibition, this performance features Emily as one of the body-painted and costumed “evil mermaids.” Presented alongside a live set by Pink Talking Fish, the work merges painting, performance, and music into a fully immersive environment.

Under saturated stage light, the figure becomes both character and living artwork—embodying transformation, allure, and the darker edges of fantasy.

Standing Elegant

Body painting, costume, and performance · 2022

Art Basel, Miami · Muse Gallery

Created for my exhibition in Miami during Art Basel, this piece transforms both body and garment into a unified canvas. Emily is painted head to toe, with the dress itself reworked through layered paint—extending the artwork beyond the skin. Paintbrushes worn as a necklace show the integration of the heart tool.

Soft light and draped fabric frame the figure in a quiet, intimate moment—where process, presence, and transformation merge into a living work of art.

Sammi Sunshine

Body painting, costume, and performance · 2024

Roll Up, Worcester, MA

Painted in vivid pink and layered with a hand-altered, textured garment, Sammi Sunshine becomes a living composition of color, detail, and self-reflection. Caught in a quiet moment with a mirror, the piece explores identity, transformation, and the ritual of becoming.

Surface, costume, and presence merge—blurring the line between adornment and embodiment.

Rae Emerges

Body painting and costume collaboration · 2024

Karnival of the Arts

Split down the center, Rae stands between dual forces—freedom and fear—stepping forward with playful curiosity. Her gaze lifts toward the horizon, where possibility and uncertainty meet.

Color, costume, and gesture come together in a moment of becoming, capturing the tension and excitement of moving into the unknown.
